Who We Are

The Peaceful Birth Partnership (PBP) is a small group of women offering pregnancy and birth support as well as birth education to women at no cost, or a reduced rate. We believe that having solid support throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenting is a human right and should not be limited to women with extra financial resources. Our aim is to make birth education accessible to all women.

We prioritise free support for women who are Indigenous, refugee-background, single mums and/or those with a healthcare/pension card.

Everyone else is encouraged to give a donation for our birth classes or other services. We deeply appreciate the donations that make our work possible.

Birth Education

We offer pregnancy and birth classes in groups or one-on-one. Our approach is trauma-informed and sensitive to the cultural and faith backgrounds of the women we serve. We also have a curriculum developed especially for mums who are new to Australia or learning English for the first time.

We run birth classes for confident English speakers once during the school term, please email us for information: peacefulbirthpartnership@gmail.com

These are free for the birthing parent or partner who are First Nations or holders of a healthcare card. Everyone else is encouraged to make a donation.

"Thank you so much for providing such an informative, supportive and empowering education series, my partner and I found it invaluable and came away with so much more confidence with the knowledge and information you provided. We both felt really comfortable during the classes, you created a wonderful learning environment with a great balance of information and community support." -Victoria

"Your classes really have helped [partner] and I so much and played a huge part in having a positive birth. I was actually surprised by how much he encouraged me to move around and change positions which led to me giving birth on all fours rather than my back! Thank you for providing such an important service to parents!" - First Time Mum

Birth Support (Very Limited)

We offer support to mums who are pregnant and would like someone to walk alongside them as they journey towards birth. We provide physical and emotional support throughout labour and birth as well as post-natal follow up in the early days and weeks of parenting. Women who have trained labour support at their births are more likely to have spontaneous vaginal births and positive feelings about their experience. They are less likely to use pain medication, have instrumental-assisted births or cesarean births.

Mums and Daughters

We’ve created a curriculum to teach girls ages 7-12 about their bodies and the changes associated with puberty. We cover topics such as pelvic health, the reproductive system, body positivity and beginning menstruation, all in a fun, relaxed environment. Mums are encouraged to be present and participate at the class, and continue the conversation at home.

Authenticity and Attachment workshop

We are committed to supporting parents as they attune and attach more deeply to their babies and toddlers, break cycles of violence from their own family history and creating a home that isn't perfect, but is intentionally growing and re-connecting.

The workshop Authenticity and Attachment with 'we are the mainstream' was an honest conversation about the highs and lows of parenting and how to engage authentically with our little ones. Throughout the two hour session, Becca checked in with us, shared from her own lived experience and encouraged both expecting, new and more established parents. The space was safe, warm and generous in the way Becca facilitated and allowed us to share our own experiences. - Priyanka

"Having them support me during my birth helped me a lot. I was nervous until my [doulas] arrived and gave me courage. It was also the first birth for my husband to see and we both felt very happy. I'm thankful for this support and friendship."

- Amina, mother of six

"I found the birthing class really beneficial. As a birthing partner I got some really good tips and advice on what to expect and how I can assist my partner throughout labour and post birth. Even though this was our second birth I still found it to be very helpful and gave me the confidence to be a loving and supporting partner throughout this special, nervous time."

- Clint, Wodi Wodi father of two.

"I absolutely loved this birthing class! I felt so empowered as a woman about to give birth because these beautiful ladies helped me to understand my body and what I was about to go through. During and after my birth I was able to sue and think of things that I would have never known before going into hospital, such as delayed cord clamping. Can't thank you ladies enough!

- Megan, mother of two

"As a first time mum, pregnancy and birth were uncharted territory, and the thought of hospitals and medical procedures scared me. Our doula met with us every week to educate us about both natural and hospital birth options. By the end of the 9 months I realised that all fears and unknowns were replaced with excitement, understanding, and empowerment. I felt ready to do what my body was created to do and meet my little one! Our doula stayed with us from the morning contractions started to the moment Heidi Mae was born, her gentle presence reassuring that my husband and I were supported, and capable of bringing our baby into the world. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t change anything about our natural home birth. To have our doula walk with us from beginning to end was the bridge between fear and faith, pain and purpose, uncertainty and seeing how truly sacred and beautiful it is to bring a precious new life into this wild world. I couldn’t be more thankful for her support.”

- Alyssa, first time mum

Girls in Nature

"I really enjoyed the way the team presented the information in a way my girls could understand. It opened up different ways for us to have conversations about female bodies and puberty. And I love that my girls heard the stories and perspectives of different women talking about their bodies. It was such a positive experience."

"They made me feel really comfortable talking about the ways my body is changing."

"I liked it because I learned a lot about my body and who I am. You have snacks, and laugh and have fun."

- Carolyn and daughters, age 9 and 11

Mother and Daughter Hugging

My daughters and I attended the Mother and Daughter puberty teaching and found the session to be very informative, yet engaging at the same time. Both my daughters felt comfortable with the presenters and didn't hesitate to ask any questions they had. The group conversations were managed well, and activities were fun and interesting, with a great variety of resources recommended for further learning. I was most impressed that afterwards, a lot of the learning was retained, and my daughters were able to remind and repeat to me things they had learnt at the workshop. I am so glad that this program exists to help young girls not feel so isolated and alone upon this very natural and beautiful journey into womanhood. Thank you so much ladies for running something I definitely could not do with such enthusiasm and finesse.
